Reported Details Behind Mahomes' Raw Appearance

Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes made as surprise appearance on Monday night's episode of Raw in Kansas City, lending a helping hand to United States champion Logan Paul.

While the three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time NFL MVP received a huge ovation from the hometown fans at Raw, he was shockingly presented as a heel.

Mahomes handed his three Super Bowl rings to Paul with the goal of Paul knocking out Jey Uso, but Uso moved out of the way, and Paul punched Judgment Day member JD McDonagh instead.

A returning Braun Strowman saved Uso from further damage, and as he walked away, he had a stare-down with Mahomes and two of his offensive linemen in Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ishaan Rathi of Ringside News), WWE didn't actually book the segment, as it was essentially a sponsored segment for Paul's PRIME drink company.

Mahomes is a PRIME athlete, and PRIME reportedly wanted to sponsor a segment that involved Mahomes and Paul working together.

That resulted in Mahomes coming across as a villain, but it was the only way to make it work since Paul is one of WWE's top heels currently.

The segment succeeded in making Paul an even bigger bad guy, and even though Mahomes was complicit in Paul's actions, the Kansas City faithful were still on his side.

Rhodes Reportedly Not Injured Following SmackDown Spot

Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes had an awkward landing during his match against Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown, but it reportedly didn't result in an injury.

According to Meltzer (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Rhodes grabbed his shoulder after hitting the mat, but he is not "listed as injured" by WWE internally.

Meltzer also noted that it doesn't appear as though WWE is trying to present a worked injury either since it wasn't mentioned on SmackDown or Raw.

Hayes was officially called up from NXT to the main roster on last week's SmackDown when the blue brand made him a first-round pick in the WWE draft.

Melo then made his way to the stage and had a confrontation with The American Nightmare, who announced the pick.

Rhodes and Hayes agreed to have a match later in the night, and while the former NXT champion pushed Rhodes to the limit, Cody prevailed.

At one point during the match, Rhodes and Hayes hit springboards off the ropes simultaneously, avoided hitting each other and both crashed and burned onto the mat.

That led to speculation that they botched and that Rhodes may have been injured since he was holding his shoulder, but the coordination to avoid making contact with each other suggests it very well could have been a planned spot.

Regardless, it seems as though Rhodes came out of the match in good condition, meaning all systems are go for his title match against AJ Styles at Backlash on Saturday.

Scrypts' WWE Contract Reportedly Set to Expire

NXT Superstar Scrypts is reportedly set to see his WWE contract expire in the near future.

According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Scrypts' contract is up on June 1, at which point he will become a free agent if he doesn't re-sign with the company.

After spending time in the circus as an acrobat, Scrypts signed a WWE contract in 2020 and made his main roster debut in 2021 under the name Reggie.

He initially served as Carmella's manager and sommelier, aiding her in a rivalry with Sasha Banks. He was later heavily involved in the 24/7 Championship scene, winning the title four times.

Reggie was eventually sent down to NXT, and in late 2022 he debuted a new masked gimmick and went by the name Scrypts.

Scrypts teamed with Axiom for a time before turning on him, unmasking and aligning himself with the tag team O.T.M.

While Scrypts has continued to wrestle here and there, he has primarily served in a managerial role for O.T.M. in recent months.

It is unclear if there is any mutual interest in a new contract between Scrypts and WWE, but if there isn't, he will soon have a chance to test the open market and potentially wrestle for a different promotion.
