Top Backlash Matches to Watch

Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles

Two years after returning to WWE, Cody Rhodes finally finished his story at WrestleMania 40 by beating Roman Reigns for the undisputed WWE Championship in the main event, and ending The Tribal Chief's historic run in the process.

Rhodes' pursuit of the title was one of the most intriguing parts of WWE programming since his return, but now WWE must ensure that it keeps Cody red hot and continues his positive momentum moving forward.

At Backlash, Rhodes will face one of the all-time great in-ring workers in AJ Styles, who is looking to become a three-time WWE champion, although he hasn't held the title since 2018.

It can be argued that there isn't a ton of heat behind the Rhodes vs. Styles match since it was only made official a couple of weeks ago and there was no previous issue between them, but that shouldn't stop the popular Superstars from putting on a great show.

Rhodes and Styles have excellent matches as consistently as anyone on the WWE roster, and there is every reason to believe that they will mesh well and potentially steal the show in France.

Bayley vs. Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton

Bayley finally got revenge on Damage CTRL by beating Iyo Sky for the WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania, but she instantly became a marked woman on SmackDown.

Naomi, who aided Bayley in her feud with Damage CTRL, was granted a title match shortly after WrestleMania. However, Tiffany Stratton interfered, and there was no clear winner.

Since getting elevated to the main roster earlier this year, Stratton has been supremely impressive, and it was only a matter of time before she inserted herself into the title picture.

Bayley agreed to put the title up for grabs against both Naomi and Stratton, making for a unique Triple Threat featuring three Superstars with distinctly different styles.

Since Bayley, Naomi and Stratton have all had their fair share of fantastic in-ring performances in the past, there is seemingly a strong chance that they will be able to do something special together at Backlash.

Randy Orton & Kevin Owens vs. Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga

Since Reigns' loss to Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, a seismic shift has occurred within The Bloodline.

Solo Sikoa has essentially taken over as the leader, and his first order of business was kicking his brother, Jimmy Uso, out of the stable with help from the debuting Tama Tonga.

Since making the leap from New Japan Pro-Wrestling to WWE, Tonga has been presented as a ruthless monster heel, punctuated by his vicious attack on Kevin Owens, leaving KO battered and bloodied.

Randy Orton, who was an ally with Owens in his feud against Logan Paul leading up to WrestleMania, stepped up to save KO from a subsequent attack, which set up a tag team match at Backlash.

Even with Reigns and The Rock out of the picture, the Bloodline saga continues to be one of the most compelling things in wrestling, and there is plenty of intrigue surrounding how Solo and Tonga will fare in their first match together.
