So excited to share some new products with you today from Gina K Designs and Therm O Web! The Kit is called Penguin Pals and I’m pretty sure you need it! It comes with a stamp set, stencil, a 19 piece die set, 3 different Fancy Foils, Toner Card Fronts and two colors of Plush Paper (formerly known as Flock)!
I mean.. just look at it!
I opened up my kit and right away cut a bunch of penguin pieces and assembled a bunch of penguins…. and one special friend…
I used iCraft UltraBond Permanent Dries Clear Adhesive to put my little cuties together. I cut the penguin bodies from the Plush Paper. Did you know that you can use it just like you do cardstock? Sure you can use Transfer Gel and heat to create a cool flocked background, but also you can just cut it with some dies as is!
I used cardstock to dress them all up. I love that the wings are separate so you can position them in different ways and the feet are perfect for either standing or sitting… it’s just such a complete die set.. hats, scarf, little reindeer antlers… I had a lot of fun with these!
For the background on my first card, I blended some blue ink over a die cut panel and then added White Glitz Glitter Gel through the stencil that comes in the kit. I set it aside to dry.
I picked up some of these pretty glitter photo frames in the Therm O Web shop and I love them! I cut the little snowflake from the bottom of the frame. They are adhesive… you can just peel the back off!
I decided I wanted to pop the frame up though so I added some Shaker Strips to the back.. they fit the frame perfectly.
I diecut another snowflake from the white Plush Paper and inserted it into the frame where I die cut the snowflake (and now I have an pretty glittery snowflake to use somewhere! I added these Penguin Pals to the frame and then stamped and fussy cut one of the sentiments from the stamp set.
Next I created this background using the beautiful line of pine trees from the stamp set.
I started by masking off around the edges of a die cut panel with some Masking Magic Strips. I lightly added some ink around the inside edges of the window I created.
And then before removing the strips, using my stamp positioner, I stamped a line of the trees in Broken China and then added a few more behind it with Tumbled Glass… I only inked up the top portion of the stamp to avoid a hard line at the bottom of my back layer. It was an afterthought to add more trees and next time I will try stamping the lighter ones first but I really love the way this turned out.
I die cut some of the snowflakes, dots and starts from a Toner Card Front foiled with Turquoise Fancy Foil.
I added these two pals to the front with some foam adhesive, stamped one of the sentiments onto a strip and after adhering that, I used the liquid adhesive to adhere my shiny embellishments.
And for my last card, I decided to change up the color palette a bit! And my Penguin Pal invited a friend!
I die cut a panel of pink cardstock and added some Transfer Gel Duo through it and set it aside to dry.
It dries clear and it takes a while, so I plan ahead and work on other things while it dries. If you’re going to apply foil with heat rather than just pressure there really isn’t a time limit … I mean at least not one that I’ve found yet…lol!
It’s so easy to cut Deco Foil just the right size with my Olfa Mat, Art Knife and acrylic ruler (the ruler makes it easy to cut a straight line!)
This one I did decide to apply the Deco Foil with heat for a really solid application… I love that Glittering Green!!!
I just cut a pink photo frame, some trees (using the tree die in the kit) and added one of the sentiments from the stamp set with a speech bubble die cut!
Oh! And the snowman? He’s an upside down penguin body! I added a hat and just trimmed a little off of the sides. I used the antlers as his stick arms, gave him a bow tie and added his eyes, nose and buttons with some Nuvo Drops.
