Virtual Initial Appointments with one of our therapists can be made by calling 773.834.9355 or online at my.WellnessPortal.Follow-up appointments may be virtual or in-person. Your clinician will discuss the next steps in your first meeting.

Eligible students also have access to TimelyCare, which offers scheduled virtual counseling sessions with a licensed mental health provider.

Urgent Mental Health Care Options

If you feel the need to meet with a mental health clinician urgently during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.), call 773.834.9355and ask to speak with the urgent care counselor or walk-in/drop-in to the Student Wellness Center (840 E. 59th Street) to meet with the clinician on-call.

UChicago Student Wellness is committed to promoting the mental health and well-being of UChicago undergraduate and graduate students by providing accessible, high-quality, culturally sensitive mental health services. We also provide outreach and consultation to the University community. Our services are covered, at no cost, for students who are actively enrolled in an eligible program of study.

Maintaining your mental health and well-being is an important aspect of being a successful UChicago student. TheAcademic Skills Assessment Program (ASAP)assists students with improving academic performance through assessment, short-term coaching, and referrals.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention

Several online and in-person programs are available to promote education surrounding alcohol and drug use. UChicago Student Wellness therapists also perform substance use evaluations.

BASICS

Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College (and Graduate) Students (BASICS) is a service for students who want to explore their alcohol use.

Campus Outreach

Eating Concerns Support and Assessment

The UChicago Student Wellness Eating Concerns Team takes a multidisciplinary approach to supporting students in addressing eating concerns.

Let's Talk (Anonymous Drop-in Therapy Sessions)

Let’s Talk is a program that provides easy access to informal and confidential sessions with therapists from UChicago Student Wellness. There’s no need for an appointment and no cost to students.

Maroon Mental Health Matters

Maroon Mental Health Matters is a pilot program designed to give participants the skills to help someone experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. The course is tailored specifically for the University of Chicago community.

Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation is a four-week course that includes instruction and practice of mindfulness meditation and other techniques to reduce stress.

Psychotropic Prescription and Prescription Refills

Students are responsible for requesting their medication refills from their providers. Learn more about requesting prescription refills from counseling and psychiatry providers.

Psychiatric Consultation

Our staff are committed to supporting the diverse health and wellbeing needs of our LGBTQ+ and gender expansive communities in a variety of ways.

Student Recovery Group

The mission of the University of Chicago Student Recovery Group is to provide fellowship and support for University of Chicago students who are in recovery or exploring sobriety.

Substance Use Evaluations

Therapists at UChicago Student Wellness perform substance use evaluations to meet with students about their concerns and make recommendations.

Support Spaces and Community Programs

All students are welcome to attend our support spaces and community programs.

Therapy (Individual and Couples)

UChicago Student Wellness provides short-termindividual and couples therapy for students to discuss and address personal and relationship concerns related to mental health and well-being.

Therapy Groups

UChicago Student Wellness therapy groups create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where students can connect to other students around shared struggles or current life conditions. There are a variety of therapy groups available for graduate and undergraduate students.

TimelyCare (Virtual Mental Health Service)

TimelyCare offers on-demand and scheduled services to enhance students’ access to additional mental health support. Students who are eligible for the services offered by UChicago Student Wellness can receive free virtual mental health care through TimelyCare.

Resources for Sexual Assault and Interpersonal Violence Survivors

We at Student Wellness are committed to providing a safe and confidential space for all students impacted by any form of sexual or interpersonal violence. Such experiences may include sexual harassment or assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. If you have experienced a sexual assault or interpersonal violence, you have resources and support available.
