But why though?! Why is 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch’s London Adventure so good? How did a straight to video sequel end up being better than 70% of the entire Disney animated catalog? Who put so much effort into this wonderful and charming delight? I had a massive smile on my face two minutes in, and it never left during the entire runtime.

Bruh. Am I like the ONLY ONE who liked this movie? Maybe it sucks...but I have SUCH NOSTALGIA for this one!! I watched it on repeat as a kid in my undies inside of a tent I had next to my bed. It’s also the first time I discovered special features on a DVD, or at least the first time I cared. Mainly because I remember a featurette of the making of “Try Again” by Will Young (the song slaps hard) and I was like “YES! I WILL TRY AGAIN! SCREW GIVING UP!!” Good times, man. Could be an awful movie, actually it is, and yet somehow remains one of the best straight to DVD movies Disney made. But nostalgia trumps it all.

Reading that this is considered to be one of the better Disney animated direct to video sequels makes me dread the day I watch the others. I honestly didn’t even know any of these direct to video sequels existed until this year (The Lion King II and Lion King 1½ actually existing shocked me). But 101 Dalmatians II: Patch’s London Adventure is clearly a cash grab trying to profit off of the early 2000’s DVD craze. Where I praised the original film for its subtly, I can scold this for its louder kids animated television show style of tone. Most of the runtime is filled with skits and action that intend on getting children to laugh and that alone.…
